Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born into a musical family on August 9, 1963, in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. as well as a cousin of the singing sensation Dionne Warwick. In Newark, Whitney began singing in the choir of the church when she was a young child. at the age of 15, she joined her mother in backing vocals in Chaka's hit Im Every Woman from 1978. She sang backing vocals on Lou Rawls, Jermaine jackson and her mother. Her work as the featured vocalist of New York funk group Material caught the eye of big record labels like Arista who she signed in 1982 and continued to work with them for the rest of her career. Whitney Houston, her debut album, released in 1985 was the most successful debut of an artist. From the album, she released several hit singles including Saving all My Love for You How Do You Know You Give Good Love and The Greatest Love of All. This helped her achieve seven US number one hits in a row. The singer beat the Beatles. The album came out in 1987 and has sold more than 25 million copies around the world. The Whitney album released in 1987 which featured the songs I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Where Do Broken Hearts Get to, continued her success. It came with The Bodyguard of 1992 that was her breakthrough album and made her one of the top-selling musicians in recent history. While her performance in the film and soundtrack were not well-received but the Dolly Parton cover I Will Always Love You and its album that accompanied it dominated the charts for singles and albums across the world for months. It sold 44 million copies. When she gave birth to her daughter Bobbi Brown, she got married to Bobby Brown of the ex-New Edition group. At this point that her much documented substance abuse began. By 1996, she was a regular user.
Dana Bash is also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz and she is a correspondent for the political world and reporter at CNN. She also produces some of the network's weekend shows such the Evans & Novak' Late Edition' and Inside Politics.' Her previous work was for NBC, CBS and other prestigious channels. Bash has been awarded numerous awards, including being named in the Women in Washington Power List by Elle magazine.
