Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American businesswoman for more than twenty years. She is the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently serves as its president. The California born Buss grew up in an extremely wealthy family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty business tycoon and then later owned the Lakers. Her parents divorced in 1972. broke up in divorce and she was left feeling emotionally lost. At the age 19 she became the general manager of Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis team. She then founded the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. She was president of the Great Western Forum, before being elected Vice president of the Lakers. Her father died in 2013, and his control over control of the Lakers was transferred to Buss as well as her siblings by a trust of the family with each sibling having equal voting rights. Her duties were assumed as president of Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also the co-owner of Women of Wrestling a pro-wrestling promotion that is based at Los Angeles.
