Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder, was born on Winona Minnesota. She was named by her parents in honor of the town in which she grew up. Michel Horowitz' father was an editor and writer along with Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's father was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated to Mendocino County in California at the age of 7 years old. There they didn't have electricity. Ryder was a consummate bookworm and would spend her days studying books since she had no television. Ryder started to take acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12. In 1986 she was offered her first big-screen role in the film Lucas at just 15 years old. Ryder faced bullying during her high school years. Her performing career, she thought that it would aid her. But it wasn't to come to be. However, it didn't stop her from pursuing dreams. Beetlejuice the 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first major break. Ryder was a star in several films. In 1993, Ryder was nominated two times for the Academy Awards.
